COOPERATION CARD
KNOWLEDGE
Positive: Shared knowledge
Negative: Specialized knowledge
When we share knowledge with each other, the decisions we make become more informed and thus meet more needs in the organization.
However, this does not always happen automatically.
We often live in our own 'world of thought' as a consequence of different educations, social circle and expertise, and not least differences via the functional areas we come from.
These worlds of thought are a challenge for effective communication. They make us insensitive to input from others whose world of thought is different from our own. It is therefore desirable that we learn to open up and invite each other into a collective world of thought, where we can share knowledge across.
Tools for working with knowledge
Examples of specialized knowledge:

There is a rumor at the pencil factory that the new department for pencil sharpeners is completely impossible to work with. They only talk about metals, and you are by no means used to that in the classic pencil world. There are therefore more and more people who avoid tuning in with them altogether, as they always feel that they leave with more confusion than answers.

A few years ago, Blyantsfabrikken invested in a number of talented new experts in business development. When they started the development work, spirits were high and they had good attraction. After a short time, however, engagement began to decline, and several of the newly hired experts dropped out. When the management sought them out afterwards, they found that they could not understand what the other employees were doing at all, and every time they came up with a good idea, they were met with incomprehension and frustration.
